   Julie welcomes new local nursery

Julie and local councillor Lindsey Kell have visited a new nursery in Blackrod.

Mrs Holt, the owner of The Owls nursery in Blackrod, and Mrs Baron, who manages the centre, gave Julie and Cllr Kell a tour of the premises, which is located in the former Scot Lane Primary school.

They met staff and children at the nursery, which is able to offer a total of 100 childcare places for ages 0-5 years. Mrs Holt explained that many places had already been reserved by local parents however there are still a limited number of places remaining.

Mrs Baron told Ms Hilling that she had been busy organising personal tour of the nursery for parents who expressed an interest in reserving a place for their child.

Julie stated “It is great that there is a new nursery in Blackrod. Access to affordable childcare is a real issue locally and I have been raising this issue in Parliament”.

Cllr Kell stated “I am sure that the nursery will be well-used by local families. It is great that the old Scot Lane Primary School site will continue to be used as a facility for children”.
