Westhoughton High school needs a makeover and Labour published plans for a new build.

However, the Coalition government decided to axe the Building Schools for the Future funding which would have transformed the school. The new building would have been used by the whole community and it is a tragedy that the funds were scrapped in this way.

Ministers have hinted at further capital spending for schools, although there have been no details as yet.

I promise to continue the fight for a new high school building for Westhoughton.
